FAQ
When should I book?
Choosing a day and time for your session is an important part of creating the best experience possible. Many factors play into this decision that you may not have considered. Type of session, what time of year (for outside sessions), the age of your kids, nap time... etc.
For maternity sessions, 28 to 32 weeks is perfect for most moms to be. This is a time frame where your beautiful belly is of ample size yet you’re not as “puffy” and uncomfortable as you may be in your last 4 to 6 weeks.
For Smash Cake sessions do you want your baby to be as close to their actual birthday as possible or do you want pictures at their birthday party to display? If you want to display some at the party you will need to book about 2 weeks before the event.
What if I need to cancel?
I understand unexpected situations arise. Please email me to cancel your appointment if needed. Sicknesses and family emergencies are unpredictable, but please let me know as soon as you can. Once you are ready to reschedule email me with some dates and times that will work for you.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions normally take place at my home studio located in Oak Hills CA. Barn Minis take place on my property behind my studio. Wooded Sessions take place either in Wrightwood CA or Silverwood Lake located in Hesperia CA. I am open to
discussing other local places if desired.
What if my kids don't cooperate?
I love getting to know the kiddos, even the ones who are shy! I always approach the session as a new friend who is just there to play and have a good time. I have all the patience in the world, and I find that being easy-going translates to happy kiddos. That being said, not every moment of the session is perfect, and that’s totally OK! I’m willing to bet that you’ll cherish the image of your toddler crying fake tears just as much as the one that we took 10 seconds later of him happily playing with a prop. My goal is to capture the personalities of the kids in front of my lens, including all of the beautiful quirks, details, and small moments that make up childhood.
Do I need to bring props?
My studio has a variety of backgrounds and props to choose from. You can view my backdrop options ahead of time to plan for anything specific you want to incorporate. I will also make suggestions for you based on your clothing and the style of photograph you are hoping to create. I encourage you to bring your own props if there is something particular that you have in mind. For example: Daddy's work uniform or tools, a specific color item that matches the babies nursery or the babies birthday party, a sign made with the babies name, a special blanket that was made and gifted, etc.
How long after the session do I receive my pictures?
Your online gallery is posted 2-3 days after your session usually. I will email you the invitation to access the gallery. From there you can order prints right away if you’d like. If you ordered a USB it takes 2-3 weeks.
What happens if we get rained out?
I keep a number of backup dates open each month in case of bad weather, and there is no fee to reschedule to a new date if it’s raining or overcast. California weather is notoriously unpredictable and changes very quickly, so I typically wait to call off a session until that morning (or the afternoon before sunset sessions).
